Subklubb 10. September: Cave exploration in Norway

The Finnish cave explorer Sami Paakkarinen is coming to Bergen and SUB is lucky to have him visiting the dive club. Sami is based in Finland, but travels around the world to do large wreck- or cave diving projects. He’s an professional instructor who teaches technical, cave and rebreather diving. He’s been travelling to Norway for several years, exploring the fascinating world of caves up North. Most people with a certain interest of cave diving have heard about Plura and in 2013 Sami and his team made a connection between the Steinugleflåget Cave to the Plura Cave system. The connection is 2km long and reaches 132m deep and is one of the deepest sumps ever passed. Sami will tell us about this dive, but also the less known explorations performed in the other caves in the region.

The lecture will be given in English and we hope the topic is interesting for all kind of divers; beginners, experienced, backmount, sidemount, cave divers, wreck divers, RB divers, UW photo divers, UW hunters etc!

There will be beverages for sale, so bring money. The event is open for all interested divers in the region, regardless of dive club!

Hope to see you there,
